On this day, November 11, 1918 the First World War was ended with the signing of the Armistice of Compiègne between the Allies and Germany in France. This armistice took effect on "the eleventh of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" with the conclusion signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Since then, Armistice Day, or Remembrance Day as it is known in some countries, has been a day of reflection and recollection for those who not only served and paid the ultimate sacrifice, but those who are currently serving and those who are effected by war, regardless of which 'side' they fought on. Since World War One, there have been many sign
